the lovely Campbell Sharpe Posted by Picasa

the autumn wind

Well, it's been a while since we last posted and of course Molly has grown loads. She had her first holiday a couple of weeks ago, with a long and winding journey up to the Lake District, stopping on the way to visit her great great auntie Kay, granny & grandpa Sharp, and finally her Auntie Shelagh & Uncle Peter, before staying in a lovely place in the Lakes for a few days. I cannot speak highly enough of the pub we stayed in - the Punchbowl at Crosthwaite. Lovely rooms, with beautiful bathrooms (the bath was big enough to accomodate the whole family!), a beautiful restaurant and also bar food to die for. The staff were very accomodating of young Molly, who never really got to enjoy all the facilities as much as her Mum & Dad did.

The weather could have been better mind! It rained almost every day, with torrential flooding one day. This did give us the chance to take Molly on what will probably be the first of many very expensive rip0ff children's entertainment visits - the "world of beatrix potter" in Windemere. £5 each for a 15 minute walk round some old models of peter rabbit, etc. What a ripoff!

The weather did clear enough for Molly to climb her first mountain one day and enjoy some spectacular views over the lakes - see photos for evidence. Not sure Mummy Sharp enjoyed the climb though!

Daddy Sharp has been away for a week in Chicago, visiting the branch of misspelt Sharpes who all live in Chicago. Since I was last there they seem to have multiplied, adding a further 7 kids to the one (Drew) who had appeared last time I was there. Anyway, a great time was had by all, lots of fighting and playing, great food & entertainment, and a really good catch up. Followed by 3 days work in Downtown Chicago, about which the least said the better.
Anyway, back in London, staying in my own bed for the first time in a couple of weeks, it is truly autumn now, the leaves need sweeping up, the lawn needs it's final cut, and we are starting to baton down the hatches for what the pundits are suggesting might be the coldest winter in quite a while.

Also - Molly's new friend Jemima Alice Hodges was born 3 weeks ago today.. Molly is really looking forward to showing her the ropes!!
