the triumphant arrival

Well,

it was the longest 3 days of this correspondent's life. We went into hospital at 1am on Friday 8th July when Juanita had a massive gush of blood - you have not seen me drive so fast through the streets of London in a while. Fortunately St Thomas's at Waterloo had just gone off "red alert" from the tragic events of 7th July, at midnight, so the hospital was just ready to admit us! 28 hours later, Molly Elizabeth was delivered, after 14 hours of 2nd stage labour (with plenty of drug support for Mummy, and a small yoga mat on the floor in the corner for daddy!) and nearly 2 hours of 3rd stage, where the real effort is exerted by team sharp. You have not seen Juanita look so tired in a long time.. There was a little epesiotomy (cut) performed after all the pushing, when Juanita had nothing left to give, and they had started to lose the baby's heartbeat. The baby was then delivered within 5 minutes and put on Juanita where she spoke her first words "ugh" I think it was, but it could have been "hello" in baby language.

They then tried to clear up her lungs on the intensive are unit in the room, which wasn't working!! The next thing we knew, Molly was being rushed out of the room with no explanation - quite traumatising - but only to find a unit that worked, and she was back within 10 minutes - the longest ten minutes I have experienced in a long time. She was fine, and now clean, so Daddy & Mummy had a little hold - Juanita had to be stitched up, so Daddy did the first nappy and feed - as the sun rose over the Elephant & Castle in the distance and Molly said hello to the world.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the photos, there will be more to come, and I am sure Molly will have more to write when she wakes up..
I'm off for a sleep!

Congratulations from us - Molly is a great addition to the world. However you have a lot to learn about baby news - weight, length - more stats required!
Molly takes her rightful place as the third most lovely baby in the world - after Jessica and Madeline of course.

More from the Wylies, clearly the only people that use the internet these days...

Congratulations from Courtney and I. Impressed at the change of tshirt for Richard in the first few hours as well! You always did change your outfit about 20 times a day...
